Vacation can begin

Growing up each vacation never officially began until we went through the tunnel in Mobile. It was so much fun, holding your breath, honking your horn, and waiting for the radio station to go out.

Well it really isn't any different now. Amelia is on her second trip to the beach this summer and already knows you have to go through the tunnel to get there.

To bad you couldn't see mom. She was smiling just as big.

Two for Two

If I am working in my resume for parent of the year and I doing a great job. Yesterday, Amelia and I hopped on the golf cart to go water Woo's flowers. I looked at her, looked the other, then looked back and the precious thing was on the ground.

We were extremely lucky. She scraped her chin and cheek pretty good and has a good case of road rash on her leg. She had a terrible knot on her forehead and a cut the was fairly wide, so we went to get it checked out.

They glued it back together and checked her head out. Never fear, she is still just as nutty as her parents and everything was fine.

I tweeted that our insurance company should be loving us right about now...surgery and stitches/glue in a week. Oh well, that what we pay them for.

We are now on the way to beach for a few days of relaxing. Injury free we hope....

Mom is Awesome....

Amelia has been getting up during the middle of night since having her tonsils out and wanting milk.   I feel like I am in "newborn combat" zone again with her getting up in the middle of the night again.  Last night was no different.  Amelia woke up around 2:30 and waddled into our room crying that she wanted milk.  Jeremy and I sat there waiting each other out to see who would move first and go get the milk.  I lost, and had to go downstairs (whole new element) and get her sippy cup of milk and bring it back.   She is still squalling and crying and sees her milk, reaches for it and goes to take a big gulp,  Oh did I mention she had crawled up in our bed on my side.....AND THE DAMN TOP FALLS OFF!!!  GOOD JOB MOM!!!

So now we have a pissed off kid because she just poured freezing milk on her, she is out of milk, and she is just confused because she doesn't know what the hell happened.   We also have a pissed off Mom because this is going to prolong going back to sleep, I have to strip the clean sheets I just put on today, and my pillow is soaked!!!   Give Dad some credit he took her downstairs got her some milk, helped to calm her down, wiped ALL the milk off of her, and then put her back in bed.   Next, we had to get our bed made...since it looked like Bessie the Milk Cow exploded.   One set of new sheets, a stolen blanket and pillow from the little girl and we are on our way back to sleepy land....til my mind starts going and Dad starts snoring......

However, We all survived and are all happy today.

Massacre on Church Street

If anyone has kept up with Jeremy and his "Project Independence". (raise a few chickens, release them, and let them roam free like they do in Key West) I am sad to report we have run into a bit of bad luck.

We started with 10: five hens, five roosters, a spiffy cage from when I had ducks and anything else a chicken could want. Life was easy. They lived under the shade tree, were fed twice a day until....

Jeremy releases the chickens on Thursday night. They made it until Monday morning.

Apparently a neighborhood dog had been taunted by the free range chickens long enough and he struck. At first it was only two. I managed to run him off and didn't think much of it. I got the call from Brady at noon. "are you sure the dog only got two?"

Me: "Yeah, why?".
Brady: "Because there are bodies all in your yard. I think you only have TWO left".

Brady was right. The damn dog came back and murdered all our chickens except for the one who played dead and the other who climbed back up in the cage. From 10 to 2 in two hours.

So that's is what happened. I guess we will be buying our eggs at the grocery store, since we have two roosters.

The Tonsils are Gone

So today was D-Day for those nasty mean tonsils that have been plaguing us for months. We arrived early and surgery took less than 30 minutes. Dr. Reed said everything looked great. Her tonsils were bigger than expected and rather "meaty". Really makes you want a steak huh??? Anyway. We went to recovery, recovered, then were sent to our room to hang for the next 23 or so hours. Priss has been doing well. Only one puking incident. I handled it well and only flipped out on one nurse so far. We should be going home in the morning to spend several relaxing days catching up on missed episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

About 5 this afternoon Amelia decided she was hungry. She wanted French fries and chicky bauck buack. Her daddy hasn't moved that fast on a long time!!! She ate several fries and a two chicken nuggets.

She spent part of the day sitting up watching tv with her arm propped up. Her arm has been her biggest concern. She is not fond of the iv at all.

Amelia just didn't feel to good, so she and I for some quality rocking time in.

Chi-Town and DMB Caravan

I made it back!!!  I survived...and I realized just how old I am!!!  I can tour a city no problem...but a three day music fest....I think I will leave that to the 20 year olds next time!!!  Okay I had a BLAST....but seriously....by day three I was looking haggard!!!

We got to Chicago Thursday and went to the Willis (Sears Tower)  They have gigantic glass boxes that jet out from the side of the building on the Sky Deck.  Just in case you were wondering what floor that is on....its the 103rd...yes....a long ass way up!!!

Mary Beth and I standing in the Observation Cube

We sat down to take a picture and this was the only time I got nervous....how strange!?!?

 J wasn't to sure!!!

Next stop was Millenium Park.  We stopped at "The Cloud" and did the signature picture in several different ways

Friday night we headed to the Southside of Chicago...yep, Southside to The DMB Caravan

I had no complaints about the weather....I really dreaded coming back to Mississippi's weather

When I bought tickets through The Warehouse, you got a voucher for a free gift.  This was it.  Very fitting considering you were able to bring in a water bottle and Brita provided a free filling stattion!!! How nice was that!

And I have no words for how wonderful the concerts...plural were.  Three nights, 20 plus songs each night.   I really think I heard him play every song.  Again, it was wonderful!!!

The Rundown.....

Its that time of year again....The Annual Bolton 4th of July Parade.   The golf carts were shined up, the bikes given a good bath and everyone brought out all the red, white and blue.   This is no ordinary Parade.   You bring whatever you want and the only requirement is it has to be decorated in red white and blue.   The parade route is short, just around the block...but that is okay...we have fun.   Then we eat.

I was unable to attend because I made a quick trip with my friend Amanda to NOLA to visit Kalee.   Kalee is due any day now with her second child, Olivia.   We went packing a weeks work or frozen food, gifts and ready to visit.   We ate at a wonderful restuarant and then picke dup beignets and headed back to the house to chill and relax.

It was a short trip, but glad we got to see Kalee before Miss Olivia arrives.

Got a busy week coming up.   Amelia goes back to the ENT to see what we are going to do about those pesky tonsils.   We have swimming lessons, and the Thursday Mollie, Me, Mary Beth and her little sister head out to Chicago to the DMB Caravan for a three day music fest and some site seeing....can you say excited!!!
