Its a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood....

and now you will be singing that song all day long!!! Seriously, today was a gorgeous day and I refused to spend it inside. I love the fact the we live 5 minutes away from a wonderful state park. It provides a great place to walk/run (LOL) and recently a new Bob Sykes BBQ, a super Halloween Festival and to many more little things.

Today we loaded up the car drove the five minutes and I will let the pictures explain the rest.....
Sunglasses...check. Diapers...check. Food...Check. Amelia was ready to ride.
Tannehill has huge Halloween Festival each year. People start camping in August to secure a spot. The decorate their campers and camp sites. This was one of many we saw today. We can't wait to go back next weekend when they are are in full swing!!!
Okay, I am not going to lie. I have been running/walking at Tannehill for three years and I have watched the train go by. Secretly I have wanted to ride the train. It looked like SO much fun....today was my day!!! I think we all had fun.
Amelia in deep thought on the train.
Getting set in Daddy's lap. There was just too much to see.
The glasses did not last on the train....
After a late lunch at Bob Sykes BBQ we decided to walk the trails....or climb. Daddy believes that since we have a Jeep stroller and it has big tires, it should be able to take the hills and mud. This picture does not do justice to the "trail" Jeremy made so we could get to something he wanted to see!!!
Of course after all that mud the tires were dirty. We had to wash them off in the creek!!!
Finally Mom got in on the action. We decided to do some rock climbing!!! As you can Amelia was real into what was going on. She cooed and talked the entire time.
We had a wonderful afternoon. Amelia was exhausted. We did not make it out of the park before she was snoring. As I write, Jeremy is scrubbing her down...she was a little stinky from all her outdoor adventures!!!

Pumpkin Patch

We traveled just a few miles down the road to our local Pumpkin Patch. We are fortunate to have a church here that puts on a wonderful Pumkin Patch. Jeremy and I have watched it for the past few years and had no reason to go, but this year....well off we went.
Amelia got dressed in her best Pumpkin attire, the top was on sale for $4.00 and Jamey gave her the leggings!!!
We posed for a family picutre. We actually ran into our neighbors who have a little girl who is 5 days younger than Amelia... I also think she is 5 lbs lighter!!!!
Finially Amelia posed for her own shot in the pumpkins...She is the Great Pumpkin Queen!!! As you can see, she looked like hanging out in pumpkins was nothing...she did this everyday!

Real World Called this Weekend...Don't Like It

They say when it rains it pours or its comes it three and I am sure there is some other funny saying, but I don't want to hear it. This past week has brought about a bite of some sort that I had to have lanced and packed(gross I know) pain meds made me sick...had to stop taking them....no fun. Jeremy got the swine flu...no fun. Amelia is doing fine....getting a tooth...no fun.

Done with that....on a fun note. Amelia and I made the third of four trips to Mississippi this weekend to go to Darla, my roomie from college's, wedding. What a wedding it was. The groom's friends formed a band "The Best Men" just for the occasion. The menu consisted of a Southern Buffet - Fried Chicken, Smothered Pork Chops, Green Beans, Butter Beans, Turnip Greens, Potato Salad, Green Salad, Corn Bread and French Bread....delicious!!!! And for those who judge a wedding by the bar....this one lived up!!! Jeremy was very sad he did not get to attend. Me, I like the cake. Lets just say, this wedding cake topped all wedding cakes I have ever eaten.

She had Chocolate Torte, Queen Hookers Pound Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Strawberry Cake, Blueberry Tart Cake, Butter Cream Cake...kinda feel like Forrest Gump. Maybe there was a reason Darla and I never lost much weight even though we regularly exercised?

Amelia did not go to the wedding. She stayed with Granny D and Papa Marvin. Her stay was much more interesting as you can see. She was by no means neglected and we are still working on unspoiling her!

Amelia and Papa Marvin checking out the Animals on the front porch

Next they headed to the Barn. She loved the dogs.

Apparently she has more of a love for horses than I do. Or maybe she will have better luck.

Helping Granny D feed the horses.

Hanging out in the Barn with Papa Marvin and Granny D. Love the hat!!!

Fruits and Veggies and No Idigestion....YES!!!!

Today was Amelia's 4 month check up. We have a monster on our hands....14 lbs 12 oz!!! 25 inches long!!!! Big Girl is in the 75th percentile for both height and weight. She is doing great reaching developmental milestones and is such a happy baby! She did get her shots today- no fun. A much better trade off was the intro to REAL food. She gets to start eating fruits and veggies. Now call me mother of the year for my reasoning on why I started her off with sweet potatoes (Jeremy likes sweet potatoes, I like sweet potatoes, I bet she might like sweet potatoes....so we started with sweet potatoes.) I will be excepting my award next week! She did really well. We managed to keep the food around her mouth and get a little up her nose. I think that was not bad for a first try.

She really likes to be involved in her eating.
Second go round was much better! She did spit them when she giggled.
Mom and Dad had a HUGE milestone tonight. We went out to eat (because we haven't been to the grocery store in a month) and ate our meal. Yes, I said we ate, not inhaled our meal. Amelia slept the entire time we ate!!!! Insert hallelujah chorus!!! No tums, Maalox's or Rolaids needed!!!
Jeremy also got to talk to Adam today who is stationed in Iraq. He was doing great. He was amazed at the phone service. Adam said to tell everyone hello!

It's been 10 years....really????

Apparently it has been 1o years since I graduated from high school so this gang gathered up this weekend for our reunion. I never really understood what a small school I went to until I left Central Hinds, but I enjoyed the time there. We counted 19 at the reunion Saturday night....not many you say....that was half the class!!! Not a bad turn out. We all had a great time catching up and just hanging out.
Friday Night at Sal and Mookies
Saturday at the Park with all the Kiddos....we had six under six months....but three belonged to the one couple!!!

Cooking Class with Daddy

Maybe there is hope for Amelia if her Jeremy starts early.

Meow Meow and I however, hung out far away from the kitchen.

Just hanging out with her Daddy.

Weekend Visit

***I will start by saying I left my camera at home so I have zero pictures ***

We made the first of four trips to Mississippi this past weekend. We started out on Friday going to Hattiesburg for my yearly head check....it's still there!!! After leaving Hattiesburg, we made the stop in Raleigh to visit the great grandparents and Granny D. We got a little more than we bargained for in Raleigh. We encountered ALL of the Sullivan women leaving from lunch....need I say more!!! Just kidding, it was great seeing everyone and really glad we ran into ya'll!

Saturday, Amelia had a busy day. After she slept late, she made a trip with the boys. They loaded up and headed to Gaddis & McLauren to get a few odds and ends. On the way back they stopped at Dr. Milton's (the vet) and he weighed her on his scales. According to the scales, she is topping in at 14.5 lbs....she is fluffing up nicely.

After her trip to town, Mary Beth came out and hung around and we watched some football!!! We then went to see The Halford's, Josh, Emily and there new little man, Ethan. It was so hard to imagine that Amelia was that little. Ethan was so quiet and he slept the entire time. Amelia on the other hand did not.

Saturday night Amelia made her first trip to eat at Crechales. She did excellent. Mom and Dad only inhaled half their dinner.

Sunday morning, we had a little scare....Nina had to go to the hospital not feeling well, but she is doing much better now!!! That afternoon, Jeremy and I went to Germanfest in Glusckstat to here a man from his work play...quite the event. Amelia hung out with Woo and Pops.

We made it back to Bham late last night. Amelia and I slept in this morning. Dad was the trooper and got up and went to work.

We had a whirlwind of a weekend and had a blast.

On a sad note. My Parents had to put Dubba to sleep today. She had gotten old and was not able to get up and walk around and you could tell she was in pain. We have had Dubba since I was in the ninth grade, she was 13 years old. She was a good dog and will be missed.
